Hughes has over 25 years of experience in structural, civil and architectural engineering including design, inspections and safety analysis of structures. He has investigated over 4,000 structures for deficiencies, code violations or substandard construction practices and has testified in both state and federal courts. Cases cover a continuum of commercial, industrial facilities, residential structures and transportation systems including bridges and highways. In 2005 he authored a book on building injuries, which includes hundreds of fatal accidents he has investigated in the United States. In 2007 he yet another book on Residential Construction disputes, which encompasses the liability between contractors and homeowners. A sample of investigative projects include building collapses, automobile injuries involving bridges, guide rail and poor highway geometrics and injuries in residential homes and public facilities. Additionally, substandard construction of warehouses and other industrial facilities and building code violations is part of the experience available. His individualized approach to each case involves quantifiable statistics and technological investigation. As part of a comprehensive service delivery, Hughes completes a thorough field investigation, conducts personal interviews, records field data and utilizes structural analysis theories of computer analysis software to deliver a service which meets the individual needs of the client. Hughes is networked with subconsultants to assure optimal concise service delivery. Since 1995, Mr. Hughes has owned and operated his own consulting engineering firm in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
